Start an Online Travel Business

I’ve been watching online businesses succeed and fail for about 10 years now…
After a while you can almost pre-determine which ones will make it and which ones won’t - not always, but often.
There are some tell tale signs and I’m going to share them here with you.
A lot has to do with the small business owner. Their current skills, their passion for the topic of their online business, and their dedication to make the business a success.
And, partly following the trends. If you’re going to follow trends and pull up your business mission every 6 months you’ll have a lot of competition at every launch. You’re also likely to quit your online business around the same time as every other trend follower. But, if you want to make a success of it…
you simply need to stick it out just a little longer than it takes the competition to get bored of the business idea.
For instance, look at the travel industry…
It’s booming online right now (has been for about 3 years) and for many reasons it will continue to boom. But so many people have read similar predictions and have been furiously creating travel sites for every country, city or niche holiday activity that they can think of (Bird Watching Vacations is a really good example of a niche holiday activity).
Now, a lot of these online travel website businesses have come and gone, but many have made a pile of cash in the process. And, not too many give up on these businesses - whether they’re successful or not - because being a part of the travel industry is fun, interesting, entertaining.
Fun, Interesting and Entertaining - That’s the Lure of an Online Travel Business
Those are three factors that help a business reach successful heights. Once the initial excitement of starting up an online business wears off it takes a passion or interest to keep the business going - something ‘must’ drive you (other than money).
When you look at how people start an online business you quickly realize that most of them set themselves up for failure. The secret is that if you start a business based on how much money you can make you’ll tire of it soon - and all the time and energy you spent starting up will be trashed.
That’s why it is important to decide, in advance, where your passions lie.
And hey, if you’re truly excited about the travel industry then get to it - pick a country and start a website - you’ll have an online business to promote in no time!
